I'm Joaquín, I'm writing to you from Montevideo, Uruguay. I also write in substack. I just listened to your conversation with Chris Bruntlett. The future is by bicycle, no doubt. I would like to ask you about life in Germany ? I'll tell you, in October, together with my girlfriend we are travelling to settle in Hamburg. She trained in foreign trade and now she has the opportunity to continue working in her field in Hamburg. We are very excited and looking forward to new challenges. Thank you very much for your time.
There are lots of bike lanes, very nice lakes, lots of canals, excellent public transports, beautiful museums...
But you may find that Hamburgers aren't really warm people. Brace yourself ;)
To answer your question about life in Germany, I'd say it's great for the work-life balance (and outdoors activities), and very bad for its high gender gap. I wrote about it in my Laetitia@Work newsletter, in case you want to know more:
Thank you very much Laetitia for your comments and for sharing your article on the gender gap. We are already preparing for the Hamburg trip. Especially reading and listening to stories from the country. We keep reading each other. Greetings and have a nice weekend.
Laetitia good afternoon, how are you?
